Born on 26 November 1939 in Kampung Perlis, Bayan Lepas, Pulau Pinang, Tun Abdullah received his early education at Sekolah Kebangsaan Pematang Bertam. He later attended Bukit Mertajam High School, Penang Methodist Boys' School and a religious school started by his family. Tun Abdullah pursued his tertiary education at the University of Malaya where he graduated with B.A.(Hons) in Islamic studies in 1964.
EMKAY Group founder, Tan Sri Datuk (Dr) Haji Mustapha Kamal bin Haji Abu Bakar started his career as a government civil servant serving in the district offices in Selangor. He made his debut in the corporate world as the General Manager of Shah Alam Properties Sdn Bhd, a subsidiary of Kumpulan Perangsang Selangor Berhad (then the sole investment holding and management company for the State of Selangor). With the passion and great concern he has for environment conservation and the preservation of wildlife, flora and fauna, YBhg Tan Sri and his friends from the NGO's formed the Pulau Banding Foundation on 7 November 2007.
Born in Kampung Parang Puting, Kota Bharu, Kelantan on 30 Jun 1948, he is one of the senior lecturer in biology programme in Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM). Started his higher education at Universiti Malaya, he received a degree in Botany and was appointed as a Tutor at UKM. He earned his title as a Philosophy Doctor from Reading University, England in 1978. From a Tutor to a Professor, he shows exemplary credibility in every post he'd held. In 2008, he received the title Professor Emeritus as an acknowledgement for his contribution in the scientific field especially in biodiversity studies
